A protest against bad governance in Jos North, Plateau State, turned deadly on Sunday, resulting in the death of one individual in the Bauchi Road area. The demonstration, which began on August 1, initially aimed to call attention to bad governance and hunger issues. However, the protest escalated when thousands of youths and children took to the streets, with some resorting to attacking businesses and markets.

Alfred Alubo, the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, confirmed the fatality. He reported that security operatives have been deployed to the affected areas to prevent further violence and urged the youths to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Alubo also noted that several arrests have been made and an investigation is underway to better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
